In the quiet backwater of Great Hinton, near Melksham, The Linnet is run by chefs who previously worked at the Pear Tree in Whitley and so the emphasis here is on eating rather than drinking. At lunchtime theres a two- or three-course menu at a very well-priced £12.95 or £17.95 as well as the £a carte. I had pork and apple terrine to start and salmon to follow, which was cooked beautifully and accompanied by crab dumplings. All lovely. All of The Linnets meats are supplied locally, plus the fruit and veg come either from Lovejoys in Melksham or market gardeners in Bromham.
