Have had several meals here & pop in whenever I can for a drink & to meet people. It's always special and very welcoming. One of the best things that has happened in Frome recently. Very welcome.

Archangel is a hotel, restaurant and bar in the heart of Frome. We offer great cocktails, good wine and sensational, locally sourced food. O...
I came to the Archangel earlier in the month for a meeting and it's the first time I have been there. As soon as I walked in I instantly fell in love with it! Fabulous surroundings, great staff and good prices. I can't wait to go back.
Lovely looking establishment with various rooms in which to enjoy the beverage of your choice.
The bedrooms are also stunning and well worth a visit. Would recommend to any of my friends or family.

I had the best Cepes at Archangel (as a starter) and a very good red wine. Toasty warm room too - and I liked the Library. Something romantic about it.

ReportLime yellow comfy chairs, rough cast walls with 'scars-of-age', twinkling copper candle lights & colour-change LED's make for a sophisticated eating space in the converted barn to the rear of the Archangel. The staff were a very welcoming crowd, from the bar at the front end, wandering through to the dining room for an early sitting at 6pm, everyone seemed happy!
We managed to sample a good selection of the varied menu, which seems to always have at least two fish dishes though possibly not always a great selection for veggies. Starter highlights were the mussels, in a sublime sauce, & the szechuan pork, a seared fillet with a spicy coating, sliced & topped with thin slivers of cured cucumber, merguez sausage & a delicious sauce. Presentation was a delight. Celeriac soup was also very tasty. Main course fish dishes of lemony fat plaice fillet & sea bass were 'yum', apparently. My partridge had a lovely sauce, with sage & parmesan polenta.
The chips were, according to my husband, the best he's ever eaten & he loved the three unusual icecreams served with a biscuit, though thought the portion size was a little small. My daughter was the only other one who managed a desert, by omitting a main course! & the chocolate fondant (recommended by Archie) was truly scrummy, served with an outrageously decadent fudge brownie icecream.
Definitely a place to go back to many times, if you can afford the prices, which range from £11 to £17.50 for main courses, starters £5-ish & puds £6-ish. Other food on offer include bar snacks at £3.50, club sandwich £7.50 and the Christmas Menu just announced at £25 per head.
Well it hit Frome in a whirlwind of activity after months of work & is a true asset to the town centre, attracting a new bunch of people, thanks to a great up-market feel. The conversion is outstanding, its reinforced the central 'street' of this old coaching inn & the textures retained in the old stone walls is really pleasing. Drinks are a bit steep but the staff are really friendly and the front rooms in particular are very comfortable. Top marks so far!
