Parking has been the main issue around the Wiltshire area for sometime.

As fuel prices go up, the last thing drivers need is to pay for an expensive parking ticket.
Wiltshire Council will be meeting tomorrow (Tuesday) to discuss the future of parking charges and whether they'll be increased, stay the same or be reduced.
Since April, Wiltshire parking charges have risen by 300% which has caused a public outcry.
The council meeting will be held at City Hall in Salisbury at 10:30am.

I remember when I was a lot younger, The Shires had no parking charges. It's almost a cry for help from the council by putting the charges up so high. We're in a recession after all. Naomi.

ReportIf you live in/near Chippenham you'll be spending more on fuel alone driving to Trowbridge and back than you would on parking in Chippenham, plus add in the time factor. Plus, the town centre is within walking/cycling distance for most people, plus local buses are frequent. The return bus fare on Stagecoach service 55 (Swindon - Chippenham every 20 minutes) from Stanley Lane to the rail station is £2.40 which is cheaper than 3 hours parking at Borough Parade. Alternatively walk in/bus back and it will cost less than 2 hours parking, plus you get some exercise. The London Rd has stagecoach every 20 minutes, First every 30 minutes, and APL Travel every hour. Faresaver also provide regular town services.

ReportEver since the new car parking charges came into force in Chippenham I no longer visit. They need to be reduced before it turns into a ghost town! Thankfully Trowbridge still has the free multistory and the private shires carpark.
