By nhavergal | Wednesday, April 04, 2012, 11:03
Wiltshire Police are warning drivers who drive petrol cars to be careful where they park after a Catalytic Converter was stolen from a vehicle.
-
Catalytic Converters are made from precious metals which attract thieves.
Catalytic Converters are located in the exhaust system and are being targeted by thieves because of the precious metals they are made from.
Tall cars are reported to be most vulnerable as their Catalytic Converters are more accessible.
How to avoid this type of theft
Sadly wherever you park your car it is at the owner's risk. However, there are safety measures you can use to protect your vehicle:
1. The safest place to park your vehicle is in a secure garage
2. Take any valuables with you when you leave your car unattended or lock them out of site
3. Park in a residential area which is well lit
4. Security alarms are available for Catalytic Converters. More information is available from a local car garage.
