Natwest Banks across Wiltshire extended their opening times to help customers who have been affected by a system fault with online banking.
-
Natwest banks remained open today to help customers after computer system failure.
Natwest branches including Trowbridge remained open today from 8am-7pm to help those who had been affected by the malfunction.
The system fault has meant many customers did not receive their wages or were unable to move money from their accounts.
As a result of the faulty system, which started last Tuesday, bank branches extended their opening hours to catch up on the payment back log.
The fault became apparent when customers were unable to access the online banking system. For those who were able to access their account found that bills could not be paid and wages were not put into accounts on time.

Whereas banking as a whole is getting a beating and accused of immoral, criminal activity we (the public) should not forget that at branch level there are some very hard-working, supportive retail bank staff who are just doing their jobs and should not be tarnished with the same brush. As much as banks are - in many ways - immoral, we wouldn't want them to leave the city and go overseas as many rural/town jobs would be lost.

ReportI can understand why people are annoying though. I also think Natwest are doing their best to resolve the situation it will just take some time...Px

ReportI am slightly annoyed at how much stick Natwest has received over this blunder. Yes money is important but it just shows that relying on technology too much means that when you're without it everyone panicks. The Trowbridge staff were awesome at giving me advice.
