The theatre which has showcased films, comedy and theatrical productions for many years has made this decision because of financial difficulties. It will however be used as a place for performing arts students at Wiltshire College to work.
Over the last few years, The Arc has tried to encourage audiences of all ages to come to the theatre with productions being held by professionals and local performance societies but this has not being able to make a big enough profit to continue.
The theatre is the only one in Trowbridge which come January 28th 2012 will leave the town without a professional space for productions to be held.
It was also announced the space can be hired to community performance groups but performance slots are subject to availability.
The Arc theatre will still be showcasing performances already scheduled to be held and all tickets are still valid.

I wish they could have both! As much as I love the cinema, I do enjoy going to the theatre and seeing local talent. Naomi.
