Demolition of Wiltshire Council Offices in Trowbridge

Anyone who has walked past the Wiltshire Council offices in Trowbridge will have noticed a huge hole. Yes that's right; it appears they are actually knocking part of the council offices down, just at a time when they are making cut backs and hiking parking charges everywhere else.

Does this make sense to you? As it certainly doesn't to me. The council have already spent a significant amount of money transforming the former George Ward School for staff to move into why the renovations are complete, and staff are working at the offices on Wiltshire Drive. But this is a council who are making cutbacks left right and centre, so why are they spending money on doing a building up? Actually, it's more than that as they are knocking the front section down – the bit that used to be the reception if my memory serves. Surely the money could be put to better uses than this?
Is this just another incident of a council gone crazy, or is there logic in there somewhere?
Comments
The ramp is temporary and only made of wood for disabled access to the new reception in the council chamber.
I agree though what a waste of money, I've visited the offices many times and they were perfectly fine!

ReportI'm not even convinced the Council know what they are doing at times! You look at the parking row that is breaking out at the moment too!

ReportWhat a waste of money especially as you quite rightly say in a time where cuts are being made. It was only last year they built that huge ramp that probably cost a fortune. What are they doing now?
