It isn't just independent shops that have been feeling the pinch of the recession as national chain businesses close.

Nationally known clothing shops Peacocks and Dorothy Perkins are to leave Trowbridge while Bonmarche's future hangs in the balance.

Peacocks has gone into administration with a note on the shop door explaining that the shop is due to close. However, it has been reported that its neighbouring store Bonmarche (also under the same company as Peacocks) could be sold to another owner, saving the store from closing.

Dorothy Perkins however is just closing their Trowbridge store according to reports with a 'To Let' sign above the shop. It is unknown as to why the shop is closing.

Trowbridge has seen many businesses close down over the last few months including independent shop Gift Tastic and the Early Learning Centre in the Shires.
