A Bath business leader has backed a new website aiming to match students with potential employers as a way of working towards the city's future success.

Business chiefs are eager to attract new talent to Bath and stop a brain drain of talented students leaving the city at the end of their studies at the University of Bath and Bath Spa University.

usefulstudents.com aims to match a talented workforce with employers without the need to advertise or go to recruitment agencies.

The idea would allow families or businesses to employ a student looking to find a one-off jobs that fits around their studies.

Bath Chamber of Commerce executive director, Ian Bell, said the website was a great idea to help students find work.

He hoped the site would have a role to play in keeping many of the city's university graduates in Bath.

Mr Bell said: "It looks like a great idea to help students find jobs or work placements.

"In Bath, members of the Chamber of Commerce and the initiative in B&NES are really keen to keep as many of our own graduates as we can and to attract other young people.

"This website could make a useful contribution to that process."
