Police have raided scrap metal dealerships and arrested ten people in connection with stolen metal.

Arrests were made in Trowbridge, Melksham and Swindon.

The police began the operation after it was found that Wiltshire had a huge increase in scrap metal and cabling being stolen from businesses. It is believed the sharp rise in thefts is due to the inflation in price of scrap metal.

Four sites were raided across the county at around 10am and those suspected are being questioned.
